Sarah Jones

Elementary & Middle School Spanish

Sarah earned her Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana Tech in 2014. Eight months after graduation she purchased a one-way ticket to Madrid, Spain to immerse herself in the Spanish language and culture! After successfully completing her intensive language immersion and work placement program, she returned to the states to accept a bilingual position working with immigrants and refugees in Denver, Colorado. She fell more in love with the Spanish language working with immigrants and managed to snatch another opportunity to return to Spain and advance in her language studies for another semester.

In 2018 Sarah returned to Louisiana to be closer to family and bring her love of languages and Spanish culture to the classroom. She completed Louisiana's alternative certification program through Louisiana College in Pineville and continued her studies to receive a Masters in Teaching in 2020. She taught three years at Parkway High School in Bossier City teaching Spanish 1,2,3, and advanced placement courses.

Sarah made the decision to leave the traditional curriculum and classroom behind to focus on more intentional language instruction in smaller groups. Her teaching style is very energetic and hands-on. "Whether we read books, perform skits, draw crazy monsters, or have a scavenger hunt in the woods, my wish is for my students to always enjoy the process!"

When she isn't teaching, Sarah enjoys salsa dancing with friends, working in the garden, running with her pup, and spending time with family in Ruston. She is happy to be working in her hometown again!
